Symptoms

Soft-tissue sarcomas often have no signs or symptoms in early stages and about a third spread from their original location before they are detected. When symptoms do appear, they often depend on the specific location of the sarcoma. For sarcomas in the arms and legs, most people notice a growing lump. Sarcomas in the abdomen may cause pain, blockage, or bleeding as the tumor grows into nearby tissues, nerves, and organs. Tell a doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms:

A new lump or swelling anywhere in the body
A new lump or swelling anywhere in the body
Persisting pain
Persisting pain (caused by the tumor pressing on nerves)
