Bone cancer questions

What can I do- diet or otherwise to help?

Follow a healthy diet and stay active. There is no specific data link to sarcomas, so it is hard to give data driven guidance. There are diets associated with lower cancer risk containing less processed food, but once patients have a sarcoma there is no data if any particular diet makes it better/worse. I usually refer to nutritionist.

Can I be cured?

Depends on the stage and type of tumor. Usually with stage 4 metastatic disease is not curable but it is treated with goal of prolonging life. But with certain sarcomas responsive to systemic therapies long term control can be achieved even with stage 4 disease.

Any alternative to chemotherapy?

Depends on the sarcoma subtype. New therapies and trials might be available. Needs to be discussed with your sarcoma oncologist.

How long is the treatment going to be?

Depends on the stage and response to therapy. It depends on how the tumor reacts to the treatment.

Can I take trips that I had planned?

Usually yes. Most of the time we can schedule or move treatments to make sure you can make trips or important events and be mindful of side effects by timing the treatment appropriately.

Can I play with my kids/grandkids while on chemo?

Absolutely. Always good to check for specific treatments with your doc.

Does immunotherapy work for my cancer?

Depends on the subtype.
