Symptoms

Early-stage vulvar cancer does not always cause any symptoms, which is why routine pelvic exams are so important. When vulvar cancer does cause symptoms, they may include the following:

Abnormal vaginal bleeding
  • Red, pink, blue, black, or white lump on the vulva
  • A rough or scaly patch on the surface on the vulva
  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding or discharge
  • A burning or itching sensation in the genitals
  • Pain or tenderness in the genitals
  • Painful urination
  • Chronic sores on the vulva that do not heal
  • Inability to empty the bladder
  • Leg swelling
