Representa solo entre el 1 y el 5% de todos los casos de c\u00e1ncer de mama; sin embargo, se desarrolla y avanza r\u00e1pidamente, a menudo en varias semanas o meses. En el CMI, las c\u00e9lulas cancerosas pueden obstruir los vasos linf\u00e1ticos de la piel, lo que genera una acumulaci\u00f3n de l\u00edquido linf\u00e1tico en la mama. Como consecuencia, se produce inflamaci\u00f3n, enrojecimiento y una textura de hoyuelos en la mama afectada, en lugar de una protuberancia o un bulto. Debido a estos s\u00edntomas, la enfermedad es dif\u00edcil de diagnosticar, ya que quiz\u00e1s no se manifiesten en una mamograf\u00eda y pueden confundirse con otras afecciones. El estadio avanzado y la naturaleza agresiva del CMI tambi\u00e9n dificultan su tratamiento. Los m\u00e9dicos suelen adoptar un criterio multimodal para tratar la enfermedad, y combinan tratamientos y procedimientos m\u00faltiples para aumentar las probabilidades de que la paciente responda
