Staying hopeful when it’s tough?

For those of you who are going through treatment (or supporting someone who is), what helps you stay positive on the really hard days? Are there routines, little rituals, or even small joys that make a difference?

And this might sound silly, but I’m curious… are there unexpected things that have helped you cope? Like a certain food you suddenly crave, a random TV show that became your comfort watch, or even something like knitting, video games, or singing in the shower?

I feel like sometimes the strangest little things can make the toughest days bearable. 🙏

I have found that my Faith has carried me through and helped me to remain grateful and optimistic throughout.

My dog always by my side brings me joy and comfort, as well as singing in the shower (or at any time). Classical Music is very calming, too.

Always counting my blessings and focusing on all the little wonders of Life plus continuing to make plans for the future, I have found very helpful✨🙏

A go to verse that strengthens me in times of adversity is Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear for I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am your God; I will strengthen you and protect you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." It is not a panacea or a fool's wish but a resolution to keep my faith, purpose, and hope on the One who will be with me in adversity. It's calming and encouraging and focuses my mind on what's next, not what's happened or may happen.

It's tempting to look at current circumstances and feel alone and helpless, but my faith in God and his promises gives me assurance and hope. I repeat Psalm 31:14-15 to myself: "But I trust in you, Lord; I say 'You are my God.' My times are in your hands." Knowing my days are safely secure in God's care gives me peace and confidence.
