Questions to ask your treatment team:
If you can have a good understanding of your disease and can explain your condition back to your doctor, then you’re in good shape. Questions are your primary resource to gain a better understanding of your disease and enhance your quality of care. Below are some questions you may want to ask your doctor about cancer:
- What type of cancer do I have?
- What is the stage of my cancer?
- What are my treatment options?
- What is my chance of recovery?
- Would you recommend a clinical trial?
- What are the potential side effects of my treatment? How do I prevent them?
- How should I prepare for treatment?
- How will my diagnosis affect my daily life and activities?
- Are there any support groups or ways to get help coping?
- Have you treated people like me with this diagnosis in the past?
