Questions for stomach cancer

Are there supplements or complementary/alternative medicine treatments that should be used? (such as acupuncture, herbs, mushrooms, fenbendazole, high dose vitamins, etc.)

We do not have any data to support the use of herbal supplements/mushrooms/fenbendazole. These treatments are not harmless either because many of them can have interactions with chemotherapy and can lead to organ failure. We do not recommend taking these oral supplements.

Do I need to avoid sugar?

The body needs sugar to function; in fact, our brain functions almost exclusively off sugar, so it does not make any sense to try to cut out all sugar from your diet. We recommend doing everything in moderation. Moderate amounts of sugar, especially naturally occurring ones such as those in fruits and vegetables, are perfectly fine. Try to avoid processed sugars.

Are there specific dietary restrictions?

There are no specific dietary restrictions unless you have an esophageal or gastric stent placed. Different foods can trigger symptoms for different patients, so monitor what your body is able to tolerate. Discuss with your nutritionist regarding specific recommendations for your situation.
