Symptoms

In general, Merkel cell carcinoma usually presents as a firm and painless lump or nodule. Merkel cell carcinomas grow rapidly and may be skin-colored, reddish, or bluish. These tumors often arise on sun-exposed areas of skin, such as the head, neck, arms, and legs, but can also be found in non-sun-exposed areas as well.
