Risk Factors
A risk factor is any behavior, characteristic, or condition that raises the possibility of developing a disease. Here are some of the risk factors for developing bone cancer:

Prior Radiation Therapy
People who were previously treated with radiation therapy for another form of cancer may be at an increased risk for developing bone cancer.

Age
Young people are at the greatest risk for developing bone cancer. The two most common types of bone cancer are most prevalent in children and adolescents.
Inherited Genetic Diseases
Certain inherited genetic diseases such as Li-Fraumeni syndrome, Rothmund-Thompson syndrome, Retinoblastoma, and osteochondromas may increase the risk of developing bone cancer.
