Symptoms of pituitary tumors may be caused by the growth of the tumor itself or by hormones produced by the tumor. Tell your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms.

Symptoms of Non-Functioning Tumors

Non-functioning pituitary tumors may grow large and inhibit the normal function of the pituitary gland or press on nearby structures such as the optic nerve. Tell your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms.

Headache

Distortion of vision
Distortion of vision, especially loss of peripheral vision
Confusion or dizziness

Impotence
Impotence / Reduced fertility
Menstrual changes

Symptoms of Functioning Tumors

Functioning pituitary tumors may cause the pituitary gland to produce too much of certain hormones. The symptoms of these tumors depend on the specific hormone being overproduced. Tell your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms.

Collapsed Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH)

Collapsed Prolactin

Collapsed Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)

Collapsed Growth hormone (GH)
