Staging
No formal staging system exists for parathyroid cancer. It is classified as localized or metastatic, depending on whether it has invaded nearby tissue or spread to other parts of the body.

Localized
Tumor has formed in a parathyroid gland and may have also invaded surrounding tissues.

Metastatic
Cancer has spread to distant organs or areas of the body, such as the lymph nodes, lungs, liver, bones, or other organs.
